Nice place for a quiet walk with the dogs. Clean and tidy and well maintained. The dirt track driveway to get in and out could do with a bit of maintenance, some of the pot holes are a bit on the large side. Parts of the fields are rather muddy, so boots or wellies are advised. I like it there and more importantly the dogs do too. It's one of our favourite places to go. update to review oh no.... what a shame... the marina has now put gates up which you need an electronic key fob to operate. I think the fields are still accessible through the day, or when the cafe is open. Unfortunately this now means that my favourite dog walking spot is now a no, no.... i could understand if the gates shut at 8pm or when it started to go dark but when i turned up the other day at 4:30pm to be met by 2 big black metal gates......Shut ! VERY DISAPPOINTED! Oakwood in light of this i feel i have no choice but to change my review to just 1 star.. i really hope something gets changed as i used to really enjoy a relaxing walk with my dogs around here.
Great peaceful location to relax or catch up with friends and the marina does a really nice cooked breakfast. To top it off it is run by a really friendly family. Well worth a visit!
Walked from Middlewich to here and back along the canal bank...9.2 miles. This was half way point so the snack and drinks here were well appreciated. The ambience and waterside location were superb ans we will certainly be back.
