A beautiful pub esteemed in history. It proudly displays the heart of its micro brewery set up in the centre of the establishment. In each corner there is a nod to a time where putting your feet up besides the fire was the crux of a good life. Come to think of it, it still is. Leather and lighting lace the interior like a swathe of swans (apologies the over use of alliteration). The Oak Tavern & Tap House is straightforward and so is its menu. It is humble, yet interesting offering the keen beer drinker a compliment to the hops and barley.

We did get a table straight away which was impressive as everywhere else in town was fully booked or had long queues. But they had run out of veggie burgers by 7.30pm yesterday and it was the only veggie option on their menu so my friend had humus, pitta bread and chips for dinner as there was no other alternative. Service was slow But the food that we had was tasty in the end!

Food was good, nice menu. The booths are nice at the back but the front of the pub looked a bit sparse during the day.

Once again waited over 15 minutes to be served whilst waiting outside even though was empty. Hopeless. Staff rude. Left to be served straight away at the Restoration then Chequers. Much better atmosphere and welcome. Seriously don't bother! We won't again.
