Definitely recommend the place. We went there for a company business trip and it was brilliant! It is very close to the Blue Lagoon Spa, so you can walk there. The walk is nice because you can walk around the geothermal power plant.
The host and his team doing an outstanding job out there surrounded by the lava fields close to Grindavík. Amazing place to go for hikes and explore the region. I felt very well looked after and everything was just on point - the service, the food and the room. Thanks to Fridrik and his team - for the five days that I stayed there it truly felt like a second home! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to come back one day.
Comfortable beds, clean rooms and a very convenient location. Dinner options are good (nothing too fancy) and breakfast is excellent. The spa/sauna/gym/floating area looks great although we didn’t use it.
A wonderful place to stay. The amenities are also nice (L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, hand soap). The food at the restaurant is also amazing, with a complementary breakfast buffet (and smoked salmon). Transportation is also provided to the Blue Lagoon. Staff at the Northern Light Inn was also very pleasant. I would definitely come back next time I visit Iceland.
This was probably one of the most fantastic locations we could have chosen for our first stay in Iceland. It was not only conveniently located to the airport, but also made it really easy to get to most places we wanted to experience on this trip. Anything we weren’t close to, they set us up with a guided tour to be able to see. Some reviews complain about the smell. Yes, when you are outside it smells like sulfur. This is because you are in a lava field near a geothermal plant. When you’re inside the hotel you can’t even notice the smell. It is not nearly as bad as some people made it seem. Also, the food offered here is AMAZING! It was so good we opted to have most our meals here. The lamb is phenomenal. I have never had such a tender piece before in my life. The fish was incredible and so fresh as to be expected. The cauliflower soup and asparagus soup were some of the most delicious soups I’ve ever had. The views around the hotel, including our room view were breathtaking. The only reasons I gave a 4 instead of 5 star review are: 1. The pillows were very uncomfortable and flat. Maybe if more pillows are provided it wouldn’t be as bad. 2. The walls are pretty thin. Other than that, this hotel is an incredible place to stay in Iceland. The staff definitely go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of ever step of the way.
We came here to eat on our last night after going to the blue lagoon. Price wise it was like any other place we visited all over Iceland, but I must say it was the best food ever!!! Everything was just delicious !!!
While our stay here was 100% unintentional, it was a fantastic experience. We missed our Icelandic air flight and had to wait a full day until the next one. We were put up at the Northern Lights and was very happy! The restaurant had fantastic food, priced reasonably. It’s a short 15-25 min walk to the Blue Lagoon, with a complementary shuttle of you request it. We can’t wait to officially plan a visit to Iceland and stay longer. The staff was great! Friendly and helpful.
