Dealt with the Northampton Branch. The most pathetic and useless company I have ever had to deal with. The surveyors never once returned calls or emails and there seems to be differing information on how to book site visits. Eventually managed to get through to surveyor, but then the site visit was cancelled after booking well over a month in advance, yet I wasn't informed. Save yourself the stress and don't waste your time going here - it appears that they are very disorganised and unprofessional. Shame that a few rubbish staff bring down the company.

I have carried out several large domestic construction projects over many years and the last one on my own bungalow was an absolute farce. Never shall I use JHAI again. If you need to speak to your inspector, forget it, you leave countless messages and never get a reply. Absolute shambolic organisation and the staff turnover is mind-blowing. A clear indication of a very unhappy business in meltdown. AVOID and just use the Council service.
Jhai Ltd were the appointed inspector at an extension on our house. We were initially happy with their work - perhaps naively. We had some issues with the work after completion so I got back in touch with Jhai. They ignored my phonecalls and emails for several weeks. It was only when I left a message threatening to pursue legal action if I didn't hear back, that I received a response. This response was extremely patronising and spent and awful lot of time telling me what their role was NOT (their use of capitals, not mine) but never actually told me what they had done for their money. On their website they claim that they provide you with their inspection reports. They didn't do this for us until I asked repeatedly. I can see why now. They never actually inspected our footings in person but instead relied on photos - this is despite our footings being relatively complex and involving step changes in the depth. I asked for copies of the photos but they said they didn't have any as it was all done via text message with the builder. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I would never use their services again and strongly suggest you don't either.

Use the local authority. JHAI have very little authority to tell your builder what to do. They have made little effort to check the build as it has progressed and seemed irritated when I asked for support and advice. Different representatives have given contradictory information and when I asked for clarification they spoke in riddles. One representative spent an entire phone call making jokes about my situation and relationship with my builder. At times I wondered who they were working for me or my contractor.
