Hambleton district council was incredibly helpful...how lucky we are to be able to speak to a human being! we've just moved from Harrogate. ..and they are arrogant and you'd be lucky to speak on the phone to anyone as they like you to do everything on line ....but sometimes it's not possible and it's nice to talk!

As a small business owner in the Hambleton Area, I would point out the Council is extremely badly run and definitely not 'A Place to Grow' as per the road signs I have operated my business for around 25 years and have been well and truly stitched up and shafted throughout those years. Would love to discuss these issues face to face with their business leader, unfortunately FROM MY EXPERIENCE OF THE CEO HE IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER CLOWN AND SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING THE COUNCIL !

Although the staff are pleasant Hambleton District Council aren't customer friendly if you are Dyspraxic and a Carer to your Mum who has Alzheimer's. Carers have enough to cope with without having to fill in numerous forms just to get some help. You have to fill one form in to get Council Tax reduction and another to get an extra bin and then they have to contact the Dr each time to confirm that your Mum has Alzheimer's. There is no central database or person who can deal with disabilities. I was advised that different departments have different requirements and can't share information due to Data Protection which is ironic as they are all part of the same organisation. It seems to be a waste of resources to be sending out different forms for different departments just to confirm Mum has Alzheimer's so that further services can be accessed. I was also amazed that the form could not be filled out by customer services over the phone and then sent out for a signature or an online form mentioned. As a Dxypraxic person my handwriting isn't brilliant and so any assistance would be welcome. Dyspraxia falls under the Equalities Act 2010 which means assistance should be available. There should also be an online form available. I think that one form that confirms someone's disability placed on a database that all staff can access would save time and resources for all concerned. What happens to people who have sight issues?
