Great views. A fabulous selection of bars restaurants and fish and chip shops set in grand old stone buildings formerly used by the fishing industry. Still a working fish quay. So still a handful of trawlers occupy some of the quay. Keep your eyes peeled for hints of the past. A cool statue and other large displays. Modern roads and traffic measures. Any direction you leave requires climbing a hill. Even if you hug the coast all the way to Tynemouth, or even board the ferry to South Shields admittedly the smallest hill. But well worth the visit to see the old heart of North Shields and probably North Tyneside.

Love this place, been going since I was young. Loads of really nice places to visit and the views from fiddler's green are breathtaking

North Shields Fish Quay is being rejuvenated and modernised with cafe's and a variety of eateries to accommodate all customers. In previous years from September to Easter the Fish Quay and the promenade was always quiet but under the current circumstances the whole area is heaving with mankind and womenkind exercising their constitutional rights. If one wants a quiet and contemplative walk and despite the beautiful scenery i would suggest that right now this isn't the place to be.

Beautiful day for a bike ride, much quieter than normal
