Property of the Russian Federation, it is recognized as a national monument of France, and it currently belongs to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. It is the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe. Beginning in the mid-19th century, Russian nobility visited Nice and the French Riviera, following the fashion established decades earlier by the English upper class and nobility. In 1864, immediately after the railway reached Nice, Tsar Alexander II visited by train and was attracted by the pleasant climate. Thus began an association between Russians and the French Riviera that continues to this day. The cathedral, consecrated in December 1912 in memory of Nicholas Alexandrovich, Tsarevich of Russia, who died in Nice, was meant to serve the large Russian community that had settled in Nice by the end of the 19th century, as well as devout visitors from the Imperial Court. Tsar Nicholas II funded the construction work.

I loved the place. It's run by a Russian federation. There were few people providing the information, mostly in French, not sure if they spoke English.
You will feel like in Russia. Really nice church. Please be respect for the rules. Don't take pictures in the church and be noisy. The have the other rules so if you want to know it please read on they website. You can find parking around the church
Disneyland feels! And also Russian feels. This is a very nice and beautiful cathedral in Nice. It is really worth a visit!
Beautiful Russian orthodox cathedral in Nice. Takes your breath away when you first turn the corner to approach it . It should be more popular than it currently is Very serene grounds and ornate and wonderfully decorated inside. Well maintained. Staff pleasant. Worth a visit.... absolutely. Photos don't do it justice
I'm not a religious person but I do appreciate the architecture of some religious buildings, in particular this spectacular cathedral. No photos from inside but the outside is wonderful. And a great place for rabbits to play
Very beautiful. Women wearing shorts grab a sheet to drape around your legs to meet dress code policy. No speaking or photographs inside the church either. We were able to snap one interior photo from behind a pillar. Highly recommend the trip out to see it. Free entry.
Beautiful russian style architecture. Place is calm and surrounded by greenery.
