Jefferson Lab had a open house and I had the opportunity to tour this great facility. The lab and its personnel gave a outstanding presentation on how the lab works and what is does for the community and research. To go underground and see what makes up this lab is astounding. The staff was eager to showcase their job traits and gave their job description in a manner that was easily understood for everyone. I actually enjoyed the astronomy telescopes that were outside that allowed us to look at the sun and the sun spots. If they still conduct these open houses I would try my best to go.

Very good community outreach every few years for the public to view what the Jefferson Lab does. Very friendly employees who were eager to discuss their jobs.
They host a tour about one day each year that is well worth a visit. They had a cryogenics show to please all ages. But, I liked the tour even more. The real stuff is very industrial looking and long to walk. But, they also had point to point bus service to help. Nevertheless expect some stairs and trekking. You'll love it, if there's some scientific bone anywhere in your body.
