This university has won modern university of the year. However, the lecturers are baffled when approached by student's with problems or queries, appearing dismissive and patronising. Mature students can forget 1:1s with their tutor's. They don't appear to have a discriminatory practice policy; and support for disabled students is positively Draconian.

Lecturers treat students like little kids and the attendance policy practically means you have no freedom because the policy makes it so you have to attend every lecture otherwise tutors will always be on your case which make it feel like secondary school all over again. You would think as grown adults who pay 9 grand a year for this that we would be able to freely make the choice of not going to lectures without any consequences. Also there is nothing to do for fun outside lectures because the university is located in the middle of nowhere.

What an awful experience...I had a PhD interview 2 months ago for an Animal Science project. Was called for a Skype interview and on the day the show starts. The supervisor started asking weird questions completely unrelated to the project and suggested that I used drugs before my interview. All they have been trying to do was prove me wrong and doubt previous experiences stated on my CV, as if they where with me for my whole life. After more than a month I did not even receive an email to say that I was unsuccessful - and based on what they decided I was not the best candidate if all they were going on about was cars and pubs? I had to chase them several times before getting the classic rejection template. So disappointing. Very unprofessional staff, so much to do. Don’t let those people interview candidates, it’s a shame for the whole institute.
