One of the best experiences of my entire trip to England. Take the Newmarket Tour and spend time at Tattersalls. I was able to watch a broodmare be sold for over 200k. Everyone associated with the place was just as nice as could be. Larry, the tour guide, was knowledgeable and outgoing and made my last day in England one I will never forget.

All cafes and restaurants are excessively over priced considering most of the people there are stud / racing staff who work long hours for a low wage.
The largest Thoroughbred auctioneering firm in Europe today was founded by Richard Tattersall in 1766. Towards the close of the eigtheenth century, sales were being held at Newmarket outside the Jockey Club rooms, which were later transferred to Park Paddocks (the existing site), and have continued to be held there without interruption ever since. Equipped with ample seating, centrally heated and air conditioned, the building where the sales take place is particularly appreciated by the many overseas visitors who patronise the activity. Other improvements include restaurants, coffee and refreshments facilities, parade ring, car park and boxes for the horses entered in a sale. A stop at Park Paddocks is a must for every one visiting Newmarket.
Fantastic place. It is the premier thoroughbred race horse auction in the world and attracts all the top owners and trainers from the work of horseracing. Extremely relaxed atmosphere and open to the public on sales days. Food and drink are to die for if you get yourself into the two rooms used for food. But an amazing experience to see how the world of horse racing works.
Sad we are not permitted to park our lorry at Tattershalls parking, close to showers and WC when we arrive from Sweden. But 2 horseboxes from UK are allowed.
