On the way back from a short break in Wales we decided to stop at this little garden centre and cafe for a slice of cake and some drinks. My young daughter found a soft play area and went in to play. The door was wide open and there was another mummy there with a mask on and her young daughter. Both children began playing happily and the mum and I had a little chat. My partner sat outside with his cake and coffee as we were unable to sit in the area and eat which was fine. About twenty minutes later a staff member very sternly told me there is a charge for the area. I apologised as there is nothing anywhere to say this and like I said before the door was wide open and it is in the middle of the cafe. I said that i would pay and she then barked at me again that I would have to book a slot online, once again there is nothing anywhere to say this. It is indeed on the website as I checked when we left but we wouldn't have known this being a passer by. The cafe was empty and the young girl with her daughter (which was actually the staff members daughter) seemed absolutely fine that we were there and I would have been happy to pay. Now I completely understand due to covid the cleaning situation. My gripe is more the rudeness that had come from this lady. There are ways to approach a situation like this. We had just spent money in an empty cafe and there was only one other in the play room on a saturday. I'm not surprised it was empty if that is the attitude people have. On a brighter note, the cake was lovely and so was the young girl who served us.

Nice enough cafe, dog friendly if you sit at the back of the cafe. Very nice warm cheese scone. One way system in operation, but the tables weren't cleared or wiped down before you sat at them. In their defence they were busy, with what appeared to be 2 members of staff. Coffee was a 7/10.
