Still operating the one way system so you enter via the main car park and exit via the White Swan Centre. This time the staff were nice enough to let me leave via the way I came in as I had the pram, this wasn't the case on my last visit so it was a hike to get back to the car especially in the pouring rain! Self serve check outs made paying quick and security were on the ball with a group of loitering kids. Nice range of stock in too.

Matalan at Killingworth has everything going for it. There is a large car park, blue badge parking next to the entrance, dry shopping trolleys or smaller karts, and I think the full range of their excellent value clothes and home products. 'Click and collect' of course too. The coffee shop sells really great coffee and other drinks together with snacks all at a very reasonable price. The staff in the coffee shop are just wonderful and everrthing is spotlessly clean. There are toilets and baby changing facilities near to the coffee shop. For good design and great value Matalan at Killingworth is the tops
They allowed me & my husband to shop together around the whole store, yet we weren’t allowed to pay at the till together for each of our items. I can understand protecting the staff from customers, but they are behind a screen, we had masks on & only one of us handled the items. Told off like naughty kids. It was very embarrassing
If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. Staff need a lesson in customer service. Woman at the front door very rude, took about 10 minutes to realise I was standing there asking can I use apple payment. Two people on tills and the queue was almost at the front door. Wasn’t allowed to walk back through the shop with my baby in the pram, so had to walk all the way back round in the torrential rain. I’ve never EVER known a shop be so unorganised during the pandemic. (Eye roll from the miserable woman standing at the exit doing nothing) It’s 3 weeks before Christmas and you had two members of staff on the tills. With a cash queue and a card queue but both waiting for the same tills? Absolute madness. Won’t be back in a hurry.
