Columbia Engineering\ as the Fu Foundation SEAS is known offers excellent undergraduate Engineering training in many fields, with a rigor and scope comparable to peer \Engineering focused schools\. The training of Engineers in a liberals arts environment, and in the city of New York, creates a terrific cocktail for unparalleled creativity and imagination to solve real world problems . The quality of research output by the PhD students, post-doc and professors is first rate in the disciplines where Columbia pursues, though the Engineering fields covered is not as comprehensive as in \primarily technical universities\. The time -to PhD appears longer at Columbia than peer institutions in some engineering disciplines and this requires attention for improvement.
