After many poor & overpriced experiences at Deep Blue, we were pushed to go further a field seeing better fish&chips. Mission successful as city fish bar is well priced & more importantly the service is great. Not at any point was a made to feel inadequate like at Deep Blue or did they shout at my other half for not ordering online. Wish we found then sooner.

Supurb place been going here 4 as long as i remember wouldn't go anywhere else!!! The fish and chips in my opinion are the best in reading absolutely delicious and cooked just how i like it!!!
I visited New City Fish Bar for the first time this evening and I want to write about my experience while it is still fresh. The establishment is a standard hole-in-the-wall chippig. e so there are no surprises there. The menu consists of fish items, burgers, roasted chicken and assorted items such as \Spam loaf\, whatever that may be. Prices are on the inexpensive side...two pieces of cod plus a standard portion of chips came to just a little over 10. The fish was tasty and I happened to get freshly cooked cod, which required a short wait - as it should. The fries however were quite tragic. Think about a lightly blanched potato cut into pieces then quickly fried. They were not cooked all the way through, they were not crispy and quite frankly they were well below the standard of chips made just about everywhere, including oven chips. They were tough in the middle and not golden browned - very disappointing. Overall I enjoyed my visit and I want to believe the chips were an aberration. Upon my next visit I will update this review.
