Lovely country walk around Montacute House grounds in lockdown. Cold and sunny and took some amazing photos of the house. Great to have a takeaway coffee and cake. Highly recommended.

Quite a modest, historical house with some very unique features, like the graffiti on the window in the library, apparently done by the bored children in 1770 and the long gallery ( longest of its kind). A must see is the cloud hedging, looks like lots of faces sculptured into the hedge.
Awesome time rambling around this beautiful place. A wonderfully relaxed national trust property with quirks and oddities. All the staff were knowledgeable and interested in sharing information. Gardens are beautiful. Go for a walk in the park behind the House after your visit.
Montacute House is a genuinely stunning National Trust location. With its' well kept gardens and fantastic architecture, it's a location for people of all ages! Upon arriving at the NT site, you will be checked in (you have to book in advance in order to gain access). Once you've parked in the on-site free parking area, you will be passing through another check point where you will require a mask in order to pass through. The location operates a one-way system so make sure to see all of the sights in order so that you do not have to take a second pass. The main house is open to the public but you will require a mask for entry. The ground floor is the only floor accessable for the public, but does boast some interesting artifacts from all across the world. Unfortunately, the house offers little insight in to the Phelips family and the history of the location without asking an on site member of staff. Other NT sites have offered little placards explaining pieces of history or important events which this location sorely misses. All in all, the house and surrounding grounds offer stunning scenery as well as an enjoyable experience for kids and adults. There is plenty to see and take in - well worth the trip! AT.
