Beautiful church!
This is the first church where my husband brought me in '13, it's also where we got married a year later By far, the most beautiful Basilica in Nantes. A serene place of worship. I always visit whenever I'm in town as brings joy to my heart every time.
Exceptionally stunning Basilica, one of only two Basilicas in Nantes. I was struck by its magnificent architecture of Neo Gothic architecture. Inside is even more breathtaking and hypnotic with the impressive nave, the wide aisles on the side, the grand organ gallery and the unbelievably stupendous high altar! This was built between 1844 and 1869. This was heavily damaged during Allied bombing of 1943 but a massive reconstruction took place between 1953-1974 with the rebuilt of the grand organ which was heavily damaged. There's so much to appreciate in this Basilica, not just it's history but it's various chapels dedicated to various important figures, both religious, royalties and civilians. A place of worship for all ages and a living monument of this beautiful city of Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region of France.
