Shrine is similar to most other shrines in Japan. You'll have to climb a lot of steps on the stairs to reach it. But some nice views are visible on top.
Believe it or not, I hiked here from the nearest station as a challenge to myself. Some nice people gave me a ride back though. I can't say much about the location. It will depend a great deal on personal taste. I can tell you there is a special \place of power\ surrounded by 3 large trees and that there is a store near the entrance that sells spiced (tastier if you ask me) versions of konjac in bar form.
