Rich city, no appetite to support culture - the result of disastrous administration of a certain mayor Pea plus central administration by various others. The museum is good for the old Greek and Roman period and artefacts, plus a permanent exhibition on the communism. Nothing displayed beyond year 1000 still, apparently they wait for another restoration. The ruins in the city are in a pitiful state, just go to Bulgarians to see how they exploit such treasures in similar cities like Varna or Burgas. 20 lei is expensive for Romania and museum has only some videos as non static exhibition methods, it is not modernized really.

The information in the museum is provided in Romanian, English, French and some in German. It's quite nice to visit and find out more about the local ancestry. It is wheelchair accessible.

The building was constructed around the 1st world war and it held the city hall at first. Has several floors to visit for 20 lei the ticket. Majority of items are from tracian, greek and roman civilisations set here including Cucuteni and Hamangia cultures. Has also interesting details for the young from the comunist period like cenaclu flacara, treatment of those against the regime, channel Danube to Black Sea, various small exponates from the period, etc.
