Pleasantly surprised! Spacious, well arranged, ventilated, well lit, great exhibits providing information in Thai and (decent) English regarding the history of the Northern (Lanna) Region, the arrival and spread of Buddhism into the different parts of Thailand, and more. Personally, as it was my first visit, I was very impressed by some of the displays, and the English translations - while containing some errors, was reasonably well done. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there, depending on how you enjoy your museum visits, this one could range any where between 1-3 or even 4 hours. As I was visiting with elders, I was also very impressed at the availability of an elevator (there are 2 levels), and I noticed ramps with handrails connecting some of the display areas that were set apart from the main areas. Highly recommended for people who are interested on learning about the North.

Reasonable museum with good English translations about historical artefacts found in the local area. It costs 100 baht to enter and is found over two floors. Anything larger than a purse needs to be stored. Will take most people around 30 minutes and is good for a wet day

Wonderful museum, very well curated, showing exhibits relating to Lanna history. The most stunning collection of Buddha statues I've ever seen in one place. Ranging in size, age & the material used to make them - many of them priceless antiques. The atmosphere in the building is quite remarkable - very peaceful & calm. You can easily spend a day at this impressive collection. The staff are extremely courteous & helpful. This is mandatory viewing for anyone visiting Chiang Mai who wants to learn about the history of the region. Highly recommended.
