Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Would recommend going at sunrise, sunset and when it is dark, the views are stunning! While there isnt much castle to see it is still amazing to see. Would highly recommend when in need of some 'me' time \u003c3

The views are incredible, especially with good weather. The castle itself was built as a folly but definitely worth a visit. The roads up to the castle are narrow and winding, but worth it. Free car parking and free entry, plenty of space for a picnic but no toilets or snack bars. I've lived around here all my life, but it took my wife from Chester to want a visit. There are a lot of paths for the energetic to follow and plenty of climbing steps to get from the car park to the castle. Being as high up and as exposed as it is it's very windy but has a few sheltered spots.

We’ve always seen this place from the virgin train ride up north and took the opportunity to visit as we drove up for the first time. Just sensational. It’s not that old really but it looks so magical and definitely from a time long ago. The views are astounding from up here. Travelling from London it’s almost the first real hill you see and can be driven up fairly easily and quickly from the motorway. Well worth a stop to stretch your legs and have a picnic.

Car park located a few metres below the footpath to the castle ruins. Small hike up hill from there but nothing to challenging.. the ruins are quiet small but definitely worth the visit. 360 views all around from the top of the hill and large areas for picnics or relaxing.
