What can one say about the Mound of Down? Many myths and legends surround this infamous place. Words fail to describe the sense of wonder one feels trying to work out who lived there, why they lived there, how they lived there, when they lived there and what they lived there for. Some say this ancient lump was the foundation of a hardy fort. Others postulate it's no more than a large pile of soil. Who can tell us? It remains one of the greatest mysteries of our age.
