Beautiful building. Charismatic and full of surprises. You step inside and see forest of pillars. The pillars support white and brown arcs. Entry gates shine with gold. Colours make the whole building lively and dynamics. There is a Christian church inserted in the mosque.

A must see landmark. From the outside you cannot realize the beauty of this architectonic masterpiece placed in the ancient center of the city. Is worth to spend at least 2 hours to fully appreciate the magnificence of the interior. Does not have a long wait to buy the ticket and enter but it is recommended to book in advance in busy hours.

Formerly the great mosque of Cordoba then turned into a cathedral. The Great Mosque was constructed on the orders of Abd ar-Rahman I in 785 CE, when Córdoba was the capital of the Muslim-controlled region of Al-Andalus. The mosque was converted to a cathedral in 1236 when Córdoba was captured by the Christian forces of Castile during the Reconquista. One of the most important building of the Moorish Islamic history. Today it is still used as a cathedral. A great marvel of the Muslim legacy left in Spain.
