Beautiful view and good food L’auberge Provençale (spelled with an “e” at the end) is located in the remote village of Mons. Mons is one of these older beautiful villages of Provence with so much character. The village is at a 2700’ elevation (800 meters) and one can feel the cooler temperature while taking in the panoramic view from the village plaza. The restaurant is not very big but takes full advantage of the views with a terrace wrapping around. The service is pleasant and the food good. There is nothing particularly unique or fancy, just plain good food competently prepared. The menu offers a relatively wide choice and there are 3 formulas: one at 15 Euros with Salade Niçoise and dessert, one at 28 Euros with choice of appetizers, choie of main dishes and dessert or cheese. The is a higher price menu (37 Euros I think) with one additional dish between the appetizer and the main. We all had the 28 Euros menu and all took the foie gras – house prepared and quite good. This was followed by one dish of lamb and one steak in a Roquefort sauce. These cam with French fires. Everything was quite good. Desserts included chocolate cake, prune pie and ice cream. The portions were adequate and the prices reasonable. We also had a bottle of Minuty Rose which went well with the meal. A good place in a scenic village.

Spectacular view. Be sure to book at least one day in advance.

Absolutely stunning views and lovely service. Not much for a vegan, but the staff did their best to help and a salad and fries were fine when the view was so stunning, and not unexpected in small town France. Mixte salad had lovely fresh tomatoes and a nice olive oil and basil dressing. All the meat eaters loved their dishes.

Fantastic place on earth. Nice old city and and from the restaurant you have a great view, all to the Mediterraneum Sea. The service is fine and the quality good. Recommendable.

Great little restaurant with very friendly owners! We had just a cafe gourmand but it was one of the best we had.
