Really nice place to stroll around. Right at the water which the kids loved. Best of all - is for free. Parking is quite limited and I assume that in the summer it will be hard to find a spot to park. The parking is not far from place but count in 5-10min walk.

An absolute jewel in the crown of English Heritage sites that should be trumpeted from the rooftops. A stunning country house ruin, set in beautiful open ground surrounded by mature trees and a lovely babbling river nearby. The ruins themselves are breathtaking and very well preserved. The adjacent open ground is perfect for picnics and the fast flowing but shallow river is ideal for paddling. The fully intact, large dovecote can also be visited but access is limited as it is on private land. The site can be a little hard to find - my suggestion is to park in the free communal parking beside the village fields just to the right as you cross the stone bridge. Walk through the stunning village high street and at the top is a junction on the right leading to the church. Follow this down and walk through the church yard down the path to the left of the church and there you will see the ruins. It is only a 5 minute walk but your efforts will be handsomely rewarded !

My favourite place in Oxfordshire and Cotswolds. Like a postcard in every season. Simply love it

We had a wonderful time exploring the ruins here. Wasn’t busy at all when we visited (over half-term) and it was great just to walk around the grounds against the backdrop of nature and the church. Beautiful place and absolutely worth visiting!
