The MN Opera website says they offer tours of the staging and costume areas of their administrative building. Under a section of their website titled “Tours” they provide a phone number, name and, email of who to contact to schedule a tour. The first time I called the number provided I was transferred around then landed with the original person I called (who was listed as the person one should schedule a tour with). He finally just said he didn’t know why I would want to schedule a tour at that time and to call back in a month. This didn’t make sense to me but he clearly didn’t want to be bothered so I said thank you and that was the end of the conversation. I called back in a mouth and was told that they would not do a tour for groups under 15 even though their website says they would even do tours for individuals and we were a group of 7. I then called back a weeks later because our group of interested people had grown and the first person I got a hold of said they didn’t do tours then said wait maybe we do and transferred me to the same guy I spoke to last time. I told him I now had a group of 15 and he said no we can’t accommodate you because that would exclude any walk ins who wanted a tour. So I asked could we do a walk in with a smaller group and he said no not really you have to schedule (which is what I had been trying to do). None of this made any sense my only guess is that despite advertising tours they don’t actually like to give them?

Wonderful community multi generational resource. Delightful shows both classical and innovative. Price ranges from very expensive if you dare to quite reasonable on sides or up high but at the venue, you can hear great from anywhere and sightlines good as well maybe even better from on high where can see orchestra and subtitles best...

Romeo and Juliet surprised me in a couple ways...having never seen the opera before, i was surprised how lovely the music and the Arias were.... Both Romeo and Juliet had impressive voices, particularly Romeo... it however seemed to lack the emotional strength necessary to tell this very sad love story.. Also the staging was bad again; a few benches and archways do not a stage make...staging is such a part of the experience of the opera it is a shame it has nothing to add to the experience

We attended the La Boheme behind the curtain preview event at the Minnesota Opera. Peter Mercer-Taylor and some of the lovely casts provided a passionate preview of La Boheme. The location also fantastic. We found parking very close to the building. Not to mention all the nearby local breweries and restaurants.

Really beautiful facilities. Great practice areas and studios. Parking can be difficult during the day so plan accordingly.
