Training with Mike B. at Bay Area Hang Gliding is, by far, worth the 2 hour drive to get to Milpitas for me. Eric and Mike have been super helpful with everything getting me through the process, and they don’t just answer your questions. They explain the why, and give examples until I understand well. These guys are all around good guys, and work with your schedule. They got me flying on the ‘bunny slope’ at the first class session, and I’ve been hooked since. I can’t believe more people aren’t out taking lessons. You can literally fly with a wing on your back and it’s super safe with the current gliders out now. After taking lessons with Bay Area HG, I won’t go anywhere else. I’m sure other places are great, but the guys at Bay Area HG would be hard to beat.

Did you ever know or hear of any teachers in school who stayed interested in and kept track of their students long after they left their class? Or teachers who gladly spent time after school helping students? That’s Eric. He is tireless, running along with his students in the early going rather than just shouting instruction from a distance. Actually, he does both. Safety and good technique are stressed. And even after decades of instructing, he is still exploring ways to instruct better. Long after the lessons are finished he is helping former students get better. And he arranges trips and outings that help us fly more and have fun doing it. There are several very good hang gliding instructors in the East Bay but no other instructor does as much to further the sport or help his students. Eric is the best I’ve seen.
Eric was a great instructor and made the whole process fun. There next think you know you’re running down a hill and your feet are off the ground. Definitely a great experience!
