If you want great authentic Puerto Rican food at a sit down restaurant, this is it. Located in Mesa, Millie's Cafe brings a glimpse of the island of enchantment into the valley. I had the arroz con gandules y lechón platter, a very popular traditional dish. The pork was juicy and flavorful and the rice had just the right amount of taste. I also had the tostones, which were thin and crispy. Lastly, the alcapurrias was what sold me on this place. I've traveled to many places serving Puerto Rican food outside of the island and have tried their alcapurrias, these brought me back to the island. I felt as if I was at one of the little kiosks in Luquillo, enjoying some delicious fried foods. This place is a must try! I'll definitely be going back to have some of their mofongo and empanadillas.
This place is from authentic Puerto Rican's from New York that make food EXACTLY like my late Puerto Rican native grandmother used to make. I tried many places in search of the quality Millie's provides and Millie's Cafe is guaranteed the ONLY Puerto Rican food for FANTASTIC prices you will NOT find anywhere else! A 5 star meal for two (with extra appetizers and sides) cost around 31. It would be easy to have an authentic romantic meal for two for less if desired! If you are any kind of purveyor of food or love grest tasting food, this place is a MUST try! I found them over 5 years ago! No one I have told to go there has EVER regretted it!
Some days you need food cooked with love and passion. We walked in and said to the owner, what would you eat and we loved it all! This is true local with an international kick. Get here today. Try something new and support an owner who's giving it all they have!
Great food and at reasonable prices. I am very happy to have found this place. The man at the counter was very helpful and helped me by describing most of their dishes. I got a good cross section of what they have to offer, and it was all very good. While they have a great selection of canned/bottled drinks from mainland US and Puerto Rico, their soda fountain is either not set up yet or broken. Some may not appreciate that.
