We have visited the castle a few times and each time it’s been delightful. It’s nestled amongst some beautiful natural Woodlands and it’s cool just to walk around that place. The kids especially love the wooden animals that have been carved out of trees. My children love the park there with the water and the ice cream parlour it’s a lovely place to go for an afternoon out my sister lives nearby so it’s all ideal place to meet up and visit. They often have events held there at the castle so music festivals and craft fairs this is wonderful for the local area.

Nice park around the castle with a museum, parking is free and so is the entry for kids, admission fee for adults was 2.20 per person I think... there is a little Caffe inside if you fancy something to eat Despite it being a tiny bit small, the place is packed with a variety of interesting items to look at. There is also a playground around the back and a splash park as well as a dedicated area for football, long footpath around the castle and the nearby lake etc

I would definitely recommend for a lush long afternoon walk. From what I've heard from friends and family living locally, this is an absolute must see in Merthyr. Absolutely outstanding outside area, with a beautiful lake with lots of ducks and swans to feed. Upon arrival I found out that this is fact a 'castellated' mansion which i have never seen!

Very interesting historical \Castle\ with a small cafegift shop and exhibitions. There is ample parking from the area by the lake at the entrance, the small area in front of the Castle and the 3 large areas to the rear left of the Castle. There is a lovely large children's playground with water features for the children to play in and a large cafe with inside and outside seating. There are lovely walks with red tarmac roads leading up to 4 ponds and a meadow at the top. Dogs on leads are welcome and a new addition is some beautiful carvings from tree trunks. Well worth a visit, well signposted and easy to get to.
