We had planned a pre Christmas meal with my daughter and our grandchildren. The website was promising, offering a child friendly environment. We booked a table for 4 plus 2 small children. On arrival they couldn't find our booking, but fortunately there were plenty of tables available. The interior of the pub is considerably changed from when it was my semi-regular, but I preferred the previous set up. Covid rules were generally being followed, though someone at a nearby table was a little close. We sat down and were provided with menus, which comprised primarily standard pub food. Then nothing happened. The kids became fretful and the adults agitated. (The man on the nearby table left.) Eventually I went to the bar to find the waitress who said that she thought our order had been taken (I'm not sure by whom). The food itself took a while to arrive, by which time the kids were tired out. However the meals were freshly cooked and tasty - I personally would recommend the Scottish Burger. And mention should be made of a second round of drinks for the kids was provided free of charge. So the verdict? Good pub food, very slow service and ambience not totally to my taste.

If I could give this place more stars ️ I would. The perfect place if you are looking to feel right at home, with the friendliest staff (special mentions to Rob at the bar, Nikki, Lauren and Kayleigh who could not have done enough for us. Atmosphere is relaxed, great for families and the food... top notch and great prices! Other establishments could learn a thing or two about how to make customers feel like their custom still matters. Well done Ship Inn see you again soon
Went in for lunch and the owner was very accommodating to us. Lovely place with good atmosphere and food was delicious aswell. Will be back.
