In strange times, food brings comfort and this is certainly case with Melba’s. Each visit to this wonderful city includes a stop here. Today’s visit didn’t disappoint. The service was frequently, and engaging. The po-boy - a classic that fills your belly and warms your heart. All the standard protocols (masks, distancing) were in place. Despite these strange times, eating at Melba’s feels like eating at home.

The part of town is terrible but this place is right off of the mail road. They had 1 red beans and rice and 1 daiquiris. WOW!!! The beans were good and the serving was big for the price. The daiquiris were good too. My only issue was the shot choices, only everclear and whiskey. I don't like either but I got them anyway. There is parking behind the place. The service was excellent. The prices were even better.

Spending a little time at Melba's today grabbing a 25 shrimp po' boy and a new t-shirt. I may have sampled a daiquiri or two as well. I had a really good time here last year and decided I'd better come back again. Kind of an interesting business with a restaurant in the 24 hour laundromat hooked together.

In my 8 years living in New Orleans, this restaurants food was barely edible. I ordered a Red-beans plate with a pork chop, Mac & cheese, and Bread-pudding. The Mac & Cheese tasted like it was made with sour milk. The red beans tasted like it had vinegar in them. And I’ve gotten better bread-pudding from gas stations. This was my first and last time ever ordering from this place. And on top of all that, they sent sausage instead of a pork chop and most of it spilled out into the bag.
