Talk about a local rivalry? If you’re someone that’s into the famous “ForFar Bridie” it’s likely that you’ll also know that there’s two rival family bakers in Forfar that make ‘em and one of them is called Mclaren’s, established in 1893.They have their main bakery in Market St, Forfar and another Forfar shop at The Cross. When we visit family in Forfar we always stop-off at McLaren’s at The Cross to fill our takeaway order. They seal the individual bridies in a plastic envelope and we bring them home, freeze them and eke them out for months like the precious ambrosia they are [to us].

From south of the border (well south!) I experienced my first ever bridie and I was not disappointed - it was delicious. Bought for me by Mr & Mrs Joiner which was very much appreciated. I will be enquiring about postage over the border for the future!!
