A handy local shop that has a bit of everything and a sub post office.

I very much disagree with the previous reviewer about Sandhead Village Shop, which rightly is a vibrant, busy and well liked local shop. If the reviewer wants to buy a \savers\ or \value\ range jar of jam for 49p he/she should shop in a supermarket. I would be disappointed to find that standard of stock at Sandhead. Also I'm sure \Big Tobacco\ have different pricing structures for the multi-nationals and village shops, so it's no big surprise that there may be a difference in price for cigarettes. There are two village shops south of Stranraer (yes, this is the correct spelling), both of which are popular, well supported by the local community and visitors alike, and important to the fabric of the local community. Sandhead shop has a very good range of competitively priced goods (believe me, I do compare), including regular deliveries from a local artisan bakery in addition to the usual daily delivered bread/rolls etc etc. The shop also stocks all the other goods you might need or expect from a local shop, fresh and frozen, and unusually has a hardware section too if you need silicone, plugs, and other such things. The shop also has a Post Office, PayPoint, stocks bottled gas, has a free to use cashline machine, is licensed to sell alcohol, and has a National Lottery Terminal. I saw the previous review earlier today and thought \that's just wrong\, hence this review.....

The only shop in the village what a monopoly, you either buy here or drive for another 12 miles to Stranrear . But depending on how much your buying it might be cheaper doing the drive, jams I can get locally for 49p were 1:10 cigs I can get locally for 8.00 were 9:55, otherwise for a one off use when visiting its ok

We were visiting for week and thought that we would have to make trips to Stranraer regularly if it wasn’t for this excellently stocked shop!
