The van itself was clean, pretty brand new. The rest of my experience was a shambles. I had to wait 40 minutes outside in the cold. No apologies were given, he just kept assuring me he would ‘have me away in a moment’ as he stumbled past assisting other customers. Another lady turned up who was just handing back a van and key, she was also made to wait roughly 30 minutes outside. I overheard her complain she was charged 2 for something and they wanted it in cash. Not overly sure what this was about. As I handed back the van the following morning at 8am, he asked me if I forgot to fill it up? Clearly confused I said no, I wasn’t told to do so. In this matter, I was genuinely not told to refuel the van and had I been told I certainly would have. He then proceeded to make me feel a fool by stating that shown me where the fuel cap was. Again, he didn’t do this as it would have made me potentially ask the question of if I needed to fuel the van. He then somewhat accused me of ignoring this rule or that I was lying. I told him I was happy to pay for it and to charge my card. He refused at first as he wanted the cash transaction out of my deposit as he would lose 20% of the sale. In the end he made me pay 25 for 90 miles of usage. He was borderline rude, very set in his ways and his customer service was genuinely (at this day and age) shocking, the worst I’ve ever come across. I will not recommend his business which is very sad, as the main reason I went to him was to assist local businesses.

First time renting a vehicle from McGarry's and I am a very satisfied customer. The car was immaculate, the rates were very competitive and Mr. McGarry himself is a very pleasant chap indeed. Great service all round. After an issue with our house sale, we needed a Luton with tail lift at the very last minute. After looking at all the major hire companies, who were all fully booked, I stumbled across McGarry's. I was a little dubious at first having not heard of them, but they managed to help me out and were even accommodating on returning the vehicle the next morning at a small cost. No issues with the van other than a knocked wing mirror, but drove perfectly. By far a better rate and service than the major brands and would recommend to anyone. Thanks.
