Mayta's Peruvian Cuisine

This place was phenomenal, don't let the location trick you. Many probably wouldn't expect an authentic Peruvian restaurant to be in a strip mall setting, but this place is so good, it could be located in a renovated dumpster and I would still go back. They give you a complementary Peruvian soup, and they have a very large menu to pick from. The food was flavorful, colorful, and simply delicious. I will certainly come back, and I will always recommend this place, as it is a good change of pace from the usual Mexican cuisine you will usually find.

Mayta is an exceptional Peruvian restaurant and one of the best in the DC, Maryland and Virginia region. Service is polite and timely, and the restaurant is nice and comfortable with both indoor and outdoor seating. My wife and her friend are both from Lima, Peru and they enjoyed the appetizers and their main dishes. We started with Papa a la Huancaina and Papa Rellena. Both are delicious. But the great thing about Mayta is that they have a lot of great appetizers. For lunch, I had Aji de Gallina (semi spicy Peruvian cream with chicken, potatoes, rice and a hard boiled egg). Excellent. Very delicious. My wife eats Ceviche any chance she can at an authentic restaurant and Mayta's Ceviche Mixto was outstanding. Our friend had Arroz Chaufa with chicken. The portion was so large she ended up taking a third of it home. But she was so full she didn't have room for Helado de Lucuma (Peruvian ice cream) that she's been craving. There were a ton of dishes we wanted to try, so we will have to return. Mayta has a lot of diversity on the menu and the seafood dishes (beyond the Ceviches) sound amazing. We highly recommend Mayta. It's a wonderful place to bring the family or for a date night.

A wonderful, small Peruvian place with a lot of fun dishes. We always reliable roasted chicken and two sides is a great value. I have completely fallen in love with their version of chaufa, which is my favorite in town. I have talked with the owner multiple times to tell him how much I love the food! Friendly and fast with great prices. Make sure to do pick up during the pandemic and support this awesome restaurant!

Absolutely fabulous dinner one of the best in Frederick. Went to several restaurants during restaurant week and our best meal came from Maytas! My pasta was one of the top pasta dishes I ever had thanks chef J!
