Amazingly hidden hot springs. The water is not that hot (35c) and Bicarbonate hot spring, and it is heated to 41c. Definitely worth to drive up there!!

Great place to visit. Public Onsen in the nature with all you need. 520 yen entrance. Shampoo and soap there... Good vibe and view. We also brought food and ate outside , there is a small place that you can sit and eat near the river. Enjoy!
Everything was closed, didn’t feel that welcome there.
Went there with my family first week of Feb and was disappointed to learn the place is a ghost village with pretty much everything closed during winter. This is really misleading because if you look online for Shirahone Onsen you will often see pictures with hot baths and snow around. Don't be fooled, everything is shut down during winter months up there. There was one small hotel with a guy outside that tried to explain us in broken words that nothing is open and even that small hotel Onsen is only for guests that are staying (no day visitors). A shame cause I was looking forward to it.
