I had a chance to stay 3 days in Lakelet, super stylish all white villa in amazing location. Los Angeles, not Sri Lankan style, walls 5 m high, glass walls, huge room, huge terrace, huge bathroom. Villa has only 2 rooms, 1 room on 1 floor and 1 room on 2 floor. Each room has separate entrance/terrace/place to eat. There is also kitchen where you can cook. You will be surrounded by jungles, lake, birds and this is only in 7 min by tuk tuk from main mirissa beach. This place is very beautiful and I can recommend Lakelet even for honeymoon. Nice owner, intelligent, ready to help.

Booked this place on AirBnB after reading the great recommendations and looking at the nice pictures. When we first saw the place we were really disaapointed; the property was very bad maintained, there was dirty everywhere, the kitchen was disgusting and there was a bad smell of moist and mould in the room. We had booked the lower floor for five nights but after two we decided to move out without trying to get our money back. This place needs a serious makeover but has A LOT of potential. Two brothers own this property and they are very helpful in any way you can think of - but this does not change the overall review of this place.

10/10. I've copied my Airbnb review because these Google reviews don't do the place justice. All/most of these reviews were left before Jimutha came back from New Zealand and began managing his property agaon. We stayed for 7 nights and checked out yesterday. Here goes: as previous guests checked out early we were able to check in at around 11am, which was great. The location is fabulous, next to a lagoon with abundant wildlife - including an array of beautiful birds, monitor lizards and enormous bats. Early mornings and evenings are best for taking in the natural beauty of Jimutha's place. The night's sky is spectacular here as well! Jimutha himself was an outstanding host from the beginning of our week-long stay to the end. He arranged motorbike hire, gave us tips on where to eat, swim and sightsee, and served delicious Sri Lankan food for breakfast each morning (possibly the most authentic we'll have here in Sri Lanka). Lovely guy, too. The room itself is spacious and comfortable. It has a great working space by the window, comfy sofa, decent bed, excellent shower and huge shaded balcony overlooking the garden. Great shower too. Open up windows and doors to allow the refreshing breeze to cool you during the day and at night - this compensates for the lack of aircon, as does the ceiling fan. There's a downstairs kitchen space for preparing meals if you so wish and you're a short 3-5 minute ride to the nearest beach and 5-8 minutes to Mirissa itself.

Great host, and great potential. But yes like all things it needs some love and attention. We had the luck of being the first guests back in '17.
