Love going for walks round here even in the rain you do need to be aware that there can be some very muddy areas so wellies or boots are a good idea at this time of year and of course some warm clothes. There are some hides so if you like watching birds rabbits and squirrels its great .

A peaceful walk through a variety of beautiful habitats. Took me about three hours to do the full circuit. Level and easy footpaths as well as rougher tracks through grassland and wooded areas. Saw a great variety of wildflowers including some lovely pink orchids, and brambles full of blackberries. Spotted rabbits, dragonflies, some colourful butterflies and lots of bird life. There have been occasional sightings of otters and grass snakes here according to an info panel near the entrance. Benches and bird hides all along the route, though sadly one or two of the hides I saw were in a state of neglect and covered in graffiti. The best views of the mere are close to the holiday village but the waterbirds are quite a long way out so I recommend bringing binoculars. Got a real sense of being right out in the countryside. A lovely place to walk a dog, cycle or simply enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Nice walk - if you close your eyes when the lions roar you can imagine you are in Africa...
