Great place for your souvenirs and those insta shots but when it comes to garment shopping be prepared to haggle and these lot are tougher than those shops outside on the strip!
Lots of choice, and many Western products which are absent from other less tourist towns in Turkey. Especially now there is coronavirus quarantine, unless tourists, the vendors will be glad to haggle on the price and give you a discount if they think it will secure a sale. Often they will invite you to sit down and have a tea with them which is nice and you can discuss other things where they're able to use their local knowledge to help you
Its definitely well worth a visit. Just remember if you buy anything and pay by card that you do it in Turkish lira (ask the retailer) otherwise your bank or credit card provider will charge a currency conversion fee of at least 10% per transaction. Also be aware there are some passive- aggressive sales reps at some stalls, shops and market stands who will stop you and try and get you to buy, sometimes they try and look at your shopping and tell you what goes well with a shirt or other apparel you've bought. However despite this 99% of people I met there were friendly and made you feel welcome.
Alway an excellent opportunity for a bargain..... And the local sellers are always happy to sell you something you hadn't even thought you wanted or even needed..... Such fun.. Well worth a visit...
I have been before and have always had other travellers with me.Had an amazing experience in the barbers. However the majority of the ship keepers were very pushy. I had a narrow escape in a jewellers..3 men cornered me as I was considering buying a watch. Thankfully a friend came back for me and I left.Not a place to be on your own really as a female. In now way am I discriminating against Turkish people.This is an account of my personal feelings. Some shop owners are welcoming and very aminable.
There's many hidden gems if you look properly. Always have to be careful and never pay more than half of asking price. Can find your typical replica clothing of branded goods ranging from cheap knock offs to like for like replicas
Most of the vegetables and fruits are fresh, clean. The environment is very calm and tidy.
