It’s a fascinating place - so unexpected in a residential street. It really is quite a spectacle to see - the time and trouble someone must have gone to to use c4.6 million seashells to decorate this place is astonishing. I’ve given it 5*, as I’ve never seen anything like it, and for the 4.50 entrance fee that felt fair, but it definitely won’t take you longer than 20-30 minutes to see the whole thing (and read all the information).

My goodness what a surprise. My daughter booked our visit although I had no idea about this amazing place. How can it be, in just a normal street under a normal looking shop? The artwork and detail is amazing. Millions of shells. It leaves you wondering how it got there, why is it there and what was it originally built for. It also makes you wonder that there must be more like this, that are not discovered yet. I can't imagine for one moment that this is the only one in the UK. There must be some others somewhere. Very intriguing and well worth a visit.

Absolutely loved visiting Shell Grotto. I have never seen something like this before. Although small, Shell Grotto is such a beautiful place and if you have the opportunity, you should visit it. You will never regret that.

Didn't realise how small it was. Lovely gentleman helped me. I misread my ticket time. He let us in early which helped as it was our last day. I was in heaven with the shop. Not expensive.

A brilliant spectacle and very strange all in one! My Girlfriend is obsessed with shells so I wasn't expecting anything so lavish but it is quite that. Massively historical, some say a hoax but either way it is amazing to look at. Unanswered questions of who and how it was built gets the mind going. Definitely worth a look even if you aren't obsessed with shells. Different layouts form patterns of life and death and you get a real feel that something spooky happened down there. Honestly the weirdest place I've visited for a while. Souvenir shop has some great products too. I'd recommend going and it's only 4 a ticket.
