I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Durham. I went for a Sunday lunch and not only was the food great but the staff were fantastic also. They were very welcoming, friendly and attentive which isn't too common nowadays. The setting is lovely too. Well worth a visit and some deals can be had online :)

The good: lovely dining room, the old Durham Shire Hall Council Chamber in the Indigo Hotel Conversion. The bad: it's nothing special with a limited menu, supposedly a steakhouse, the ugly:not with good steak. We had to send both of ours from the set menu back,as they failed the basics of even being cuttable. The replacements were ok and we got a free pud each in compensation. The next table had the same problem. This lets down a very good hotel otherwise. Has Marco ever checked in? Staff friendly though!. Social distancing fine

We have visited Marco Pierre White Durham on numerous occasions and have enjoyed nice meals there, however on our last visit 07.08.20 we could not be more disappointed. The menu was very limited and when we asked why, we were told it was because of supplies due to the pandemic (we were in a local restaurant the week before and had the choice of a great menu). Our starters were basically a handful of salad leaves. Mine and my partners ' butchers steak' was tough as old boots. Its such a shame because this is such a beautiful restaurant and I was really looking forward to visiting, post lockdown.

My friend and I visited here today for lunch. We were expecting fresh delicious food, high expectations with being at Marco Pierre White's restaurant, and we had visited his restaurant in Birmingham and had a great experience. We ordered the set menu 3 course 27.50..it definitely wasn't worth the price...Since when does Macro Pierre White serve FROZEN CHIP'S and charge you extra for them..The hole meal was very disappointing and won't be visiting again...Staff were amazing..

We went for lunch, which was given to us as a gift. 3 course. The food was good, our steaks were well cooked. Bread shouldn't be an extra cost in my opinion, especially if your having soup(this came with 2 small slices croutons floating in it, which my partner found off putting)The cheese plate was ample, but would have been better if the waiter had said or the cheeses were described in some way so you knew what they were. Lovely building very tastefully refurbished. Would recommend and hopefully be back on the future
