We booked Cut a Rug to DJ our wedding in 2014. Aaron is now referred to as 'the family DJ' because nobody in our family/friendship circle could imagine a wedding without him, to the point where wedding dates have been chosen around his availability (spoiler alert: he books out way in advance!) I am also a wedding photographer and I see a lot of different entertainment at weddings week in, week out, all around Australia. Cut a Rug is not like anyone else we have in this country. Music plays at weddings for almost the entire duration - from when guests rock up to the ceremony until you're kicked out of the venue at the end of the night. Because of this, the music has such a huge influence on the outcome of the wedding and deserves to be managed by someone with a high level of skill. I just know when I'm working alongside Cut a Rug that the wedding is going to be on another level of amazing and our couples are in excellent hands. Aaron's the hardest working DJ in the biz and his level of care for his couples and attention to detail is unmatched and super impressive. Whatever image you have in your mind of what a wedding DJ typically is, Aaron ain't it! Seeing crowds at weddings as they realise they are in for the most insane dance party of their lives is one of the best things about working with him / dancing on his dance floors.

We couldn't be happier with having Aaron in charge of music for our wedding day. He was interested, professional and committed in creating the best experience for us and our guests. We received so many compliments throughout the day on the music he played, particularly the fun party atmosphere he helped create despite the restrictions. Aaron is next level! He was the most perfect DJ for our wedding! Being music lovers we wanted someone that played our style of music but also pumped out rocking party tunes. The way that he knew what songs to play at what moments meant that our dance floor was never empty! Every guest was out of their seat for the entire night and that's all because of this guy! He is truly an amazing DJ and you definitely won't be disappointed if you hire him for your own wedding! Will we definitely be using him again for future birthdays and other celebrations! Without hesitation I can say that Cut a Rug completed our wedding reception. The background songs throughout dinner were perfect and spot on with our tastes, and the dance floor in the evening was amazing, great song after great song. Aaron nailed every song on the night, and we did not stop dancing. After a short skype call Aaron completely understood our tastes and what we wanted from our wedding and it went of without a hitch. I would recommend Aaron and the Cut a Rug team to anyone looking for a DJ - we just need another excuse for one and we will be on the phone! THANK YOU!!!
We want to MASSIVE thank you to Aaron from Cut a Rug. His music made our day and night. Our feet are still sore from all the dancing. Everyone and we literally mean everyone commented on how awesome the music was, and it really was. He killed it! Thank you Aaron for being part of our special day and for making it incredible. Aaron!!! What can I say!! Words can’t describe how happy we are to have had you apart of our day. Having you MC and DJ really took the stress away and we knew our wedding night was in good hands. You were so relaxed as a MC which was exactly what we wanted for our night and it ran so smoothly! There were a few last minute changes that I made on the night and you were just so easy to deal with and I really appreciated you checking in with us throughout the night making sure both Kim and I were happy with everything! Which we totally were!! All our guests raved about the music and you really mixed it up and catered for everyone. I’ve never seen my dad dance in public but yet he ended up in the middle of the dance floor busting out his moves... Amazing!! A massive thank you to both Aaron & Mel from Cut a Rug x
Planning a wedding is a pretty crazy process; it’s easy to get swept up in the details of deciding what is most important for your big day. Reflecting on our wedding day, the one detail we were so overwhelmingly happy with was our amazing DJ. In fact, it’s the detail that makes us want to relive that day time and time again. My husband and I both recall meeting Aaron for the first time at a wedding showcase, he said, ‘excuse me for one moment, I just need to change the track’ and put on one of our favourite songs. Whether that was a coincidence or not, it spoke to him as both a professional and a person. He had won us over in that moment. Aaron is such an amazing DJ and person in general; he really feeds off people’s vibes, making critical musical decisions that result in a killer dance floor and nothing but smiles. He really put at us at ease knowing he would connect with our guests and play what was right for the atmosphere; it was such a good feeling. I don’t think you’d hear of many weddings where you heard Dirty Old Town, Sandstorm and a huge sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody. But it happened and it was nothing less than amazing! Our wedding guests, more than a month after our wedding are STILL raving about our DJ and dance floor, young and old. We can’t explain our wonderful it felt walking out the door at the end of the night and hearing all our guests saying ‘that was the BEST wedding I’ve ever been to’. There was not a single moment without dancing. Our day would not have been the same without Cut A Rug, even the video Aaron captured on his photo left us grinning from ear to ear (we may have watched it 1000 times already). We cannot thank Aaron and Mel enough for such an unforgettable night!
We were fortunate enough for Aaron to DJ and MC at two of our events – one an intimate wedding ceremony with a small gathering afterwards and the second a week later, a much bigger wedding reception party. To say that Cut a Rug exceeded expectations would be an understatement! Throughout the whole process from planning to the actual day, he and Mel were incredibly professional, responsive, helpful and not to be discounted, also very excited for us. The platform that they use for planning made things very easy to put in our song lists requests and the run sheet. They were also there to offer us advice when we weren’t too sure of how the process usually ran and were always enthusiastic. With the music, wow what can I say that wouldn’t undersell it… It is clear that this is a huge passion which Aaron performs so incredibly well. He managed to seamlessly integrate our odd music requests at our intimate wedding with perfect timing and without any momentum being lost on the dance floor. He created a lot of special moments for Nick and I and also for our friends and families and for that, we will be forever grateful and will always remember. At the end of the night, there wasn’t a single person not dancing. Even the ones that always politely say “No thank you, I don’t Dance” were on the dance floor letting loose. I highly recommend Mel and Aaron for all weddings and any events!
