I was told that this was the third restaurant of Manjiro. The building is over 100 years old. The atmosphere and food was excellent. The service was also excellent too. I would recommend this for people who would like to eat Kyo cuisine. Kyo cuisine has been dated back for centuries. The menu will change during each season for the menu is based on what is edible during that season. (Spring, summer, autumn and winter.) Whether you are a Japanese or a foreigner, this place is a good choice. It is always good to have a reservation, For they must prepare the food at least one day in advance. As a Japanese, I would be recommend the course that is 8,000 and above. Happy dining!!! Bon Appétit!!!

Amazing dining experience in Kyoto. Such incredible and attentive service and delicious food. We had the Kaiseki Katsura, 9 courses for 5700. Local beer and sake were very reasonably priced and delicious. The staff went so far out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our dinner, right down to walking outside as we left and seeing us off down the block. Would highly recommend.

Extremely good service, fantastic food. We had an elderly family member with us so they cut up everything into tiny pieces. Dessert was manju (sticky rice ball with red bean paste) which would be difficult for grandma to enjoy so they gave us a small scoop of sweet potato ice cream!

Hidden gem just outside of the more popular Gion area. Lovely location and cozy atmosphere inside. Reservation is recommended but not required (I personally randomly walked in), the prices are great for a half/full Kaiseki lunch/dinner. The staff is extremely friendly and will try their best to explain every single component of the (many) dishes. Great prices for all the variety and quick and excellent service. Multiple chefs/waitresses will bring you the food just at the right time without you having to do anything and will care about every little detail. The food is all delicious and prepared with a great variety of fresh seasonal ingredients. Be sure to say thanks and smile all the way at the end of the meal, as the staff will follow you up to the street to show their gratitude for your visit!
