I really enjoyed this cool old school train station! They have a nice travel center located inside too! The ladies that work in the travel center are very friendly, helpful, and had excellent hospitality! I would love to visit here again very soon!

This is how I commute....on the VRE!!! Best conductors ever!! Always helpful! The train cars are beautiful and clean! It's a nice smooth ride. You can eat and drink on the train. I have been taking the VRE for 10 years now. There is a group of us who have gotten together and we buy each other breakfast, snacks, celebrate birthdays, we do gift exchanges during Christmas, share holiday candies and the like. It truly is a FUN ride.
Nice little train station downtown but nothing special about it either except for the little museum and clean waiting room inside. Serves 6 Amtrak trains (two of them are triweekly) that head to as far south as New Orleans and as far north as Boston. The station also serves the VRE Monday thru Friday. It's also not far from Powell yard so there's some frequent yard jobs too as well as some local trains that pass through during the day and night. Trains are not permitted to use their horns through the area from 10 pm to 7 am (it's a quiet zone during that time). Always a great focal point when it comes to downtown festivities. Parking however isn't the best during the week and can be a little challenging. I suggest just taking a cab in, the rates aren't bad.
I've been riding the VRE since the service started. For me, it's the best way to travel to work. I arrive to work stress free.
