There is currently a sign outside saying the landlady won't re-open until she feels happy to do so. Considering she is a snowflake, extremely left wing and lacks any real grit or backbone I doubt this pub will ever reopen. Sad really, they had character, good music and very good beer.

Great atmosphere. Proper pub. Nothing flash. Good old fashioned live music and wooden floor. Real ale a plenty.
This gem has certainly been reviewed positively and for good reason. But it's not just a place for well conditioned ale, the Man of Kent also boasts proper (German) lager as well. This boozer features highly on a true Rochester publican's list! The staff are sincerely companionable. The ale, and the appreciation for beer in general is paramount here and the general quality and expertise is genuinely modest. My favorite pub in the area by far, and I've been to them all!
Really good choice of beers. The Paulaner was lovely and fresh. It's not a \glossy\ pub and all the better for it.
