Commemorates 250? Soldiers of the 66th Regiment of foot (Berkshire Regiment). Very impressive statue of a lion.
Now used as an icon for everything Reading, this statue is well worth a visit. A large war memorial at the heart of Forbury Gardens, it conveys a picture of both sadness and strength.
It's big, it's bronze, it's covered in lichen. A good time for the whole family
