Decent little shop inside Dobbies garden centre. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always helpful. They have a wide range of freshwater, tropical and marine fish and corals. They also stock all of your standard extras you could need, as well as tanks and equipment for whole new set ups. I bought my first tropical tank from here after getting some advice about the right tank for my needs, and it's been plain sailing since then. I've returned a few times for extra bits, fish and equipment, cant think of going anywhere else. They also have a selection of ponds, equipment and fish.
Thought I would give them another chance and took the children to pick some new fish for the tank. As soon as we got in there we saw nothing changed, overstocked tanks with stressed fish. The usual floaters in a few tanks and arrogant staff who talk to you like rubbish unless they think they can con a few extra out of you by telling you to leave your tank to cycle for 24 hours and sell you more fish than your tank could take. (That was just from one salesman dealing with a poor family who trusted him). Will gladly stick to my LFS.
Visited recently and although staff helpful felt the tanks were far too overstocked, cloudy and fish very very stressed. It was upsetting.
We used to love a trip here to see the fish and purchase some for our aquarium... previously ran by a couple of youngish guys who were very helpful. Visited 2 days ago and the place really seemed unloved. The pond plants were all over the place, swan mussels in a really unkempt container with a scattering of pebbles.... not many pond fish and a very abrupt lady cattle driving us through the shop.... served by a man who didn't acknowledge us as he was on the phone the whole transaction. Really lost its sparkle this place.
