Man this place is like a labyrinth. There is not any clear directions where to go(I was going by train). Thus my suggestion is just directly go to costumer centre of renfe (first floor) and ask where to go. Otherwise it is quite difficult to navigate. Come at least an hour prior. Maybe simpler directional banner or something can help. The train though is quite punctual, but I feel there are juat too much lamp on the waiting corridor.

The old station is not pleasant when it is very hit outside. Many restaurants are closed for Covid-19, as is the indoor garden area. The newer station has better climate control. Not worth going out of your way for, but if you already plane ae to use the station take a quick look at the indoor garden in the old station building.

I was able to transfer easily and buy tickets for my day trip to Toledo. The directions are easy and all of the signs are in English and Spanish.

It’s the most beautiful train station I’ve ever seen! If I lived in Madrid, I would probably come here to just read, walk around in this jungle and watch people pass by.
