I am 77 yr old tenant trapped in my apartnent for 8 days because Otis is not fixing our elevator & my vertigo makes it life-threatening to try the stairs. I have not been able to get my mail, including meds & its getting critical. Cannot get kidney blood test needed by my doctor to correct my serious health problem. Cannot mail payment for my bills or take trash to basement. Otis just says manyana. For more than a week!

I am a property manager who put an Otis elevator in a building two years ago. AT LEAST a dozen times I have had to call the fire department to come rescue my tenants stuck in the elevator. While this elevator was under warranty Otis claimed these incidents were all caused by my tenants (absolutely absurd that all of them would be including elderly individuals) and charged us to come \fix\ the elevator. Time and time again Otis has failed to take responsibility for their faulty product and refused to properly fix it (to last). We have put 3 Schindler elevators in other properties and have not had one other problem with people getting stuck. When we do have something we want addressed on a Schindler elevator they are out there the next day to make sure we are happy with the product they have provided. There is clearly something wrong with this elevator that Otis does not want to own up to. When this elevator was put in I never had an easy phone call or felt as though the company really cared to give us a product we approved of or functioned properly.
