The customer service from the staff who stand at the entrance of the Macclesfield store since the last lockdown is absolutely despicable! A taller lady with a short grey bob, and a younger guy with a thick full fringe of hair in particular are acting like police officers and its is extremely disturbing for people with mental health issues. I suffer with ocd myself, as does my wife. On two separate occasions we have suffered encounters where your staff are enforcing the use of hand sanitizer, this was experienced in front of other shoppers and was very embarrassing, the lady with the grey bob was demanding I use it, when my ocd does not allow me to use anything which is publicly touched/used. The second time was my wife today, she is exempt from wearing a face covering, and was told she could not shop in the store without wearing a lanyard. She cannot wear one due to anxiety and I find this behaviour disturbing. I have been a customer of the store for many years and not once been treated like this. Both my wife and I thoroughly appreciate the new regulations in life with Covid, but do not under any circumstances, expect to be treated like this. All/most staff who work the door need to be reprimanded of their approach to customers. Nowhere in the store does it state that if hand sanitizer is not used or a lanyard is not worn, that you cannot shop in the Macclesfield store, nor does it state this on your website. You are making people with mental health issues worse... way to go Macclesfield Marks & Spencer, you sure no how to lose customers, we are not the only ones who have suffered this intimidation!!

It's a shop that sells nice clothes and food. Three stars is not an indication of poor or even mediocre service or goods, it's just ordinary. It's hard to rate a shop above three unless there is an outstanding element.

Disappointing, especially in the cafe. They used to serve a nice cappuccino but mine was all froth. They could do a toasted t cake but couldn't do a simple slice of toast. Not impressed anymore.
