Definitely a must see half-day trip from Lima and that includes lunch. The Temple del Sol is only part of Pachacamac, and expansive settlement that dates back to 200 BC/BCE or 1000 years before the Incas/Inkas. There is much more to Peru than Inkas and Machu Picchu. I encourage you to see as much as possible including the Huacas right in Miraflores and San Isidro (Lima) which also are pre-Inka. Check out música Criolla while in the area. Spend more than a day in before running off to Machu Picchu. Enjoy!

Is the only one site in Pachacamac available to go inside, if can be called go inside walk by a sidewalks and a few rickety walls. It has a good panoramic view due its height. Try to find a good guide tour, because there is not much to see. Left Pachacamac as the last site to visit in the peru trip.
The museum shows in a very concrete way the reasons of the site. The actual archeological place is huge with tons of sand and a great view towards the sea once you get up there. Prepare for a 30 minute walk, uphill :S
Alot of really cool artifacts and things still being dug up. It's a shame they do not have more financial support, otherwise they could work alot faster. And entire ancient ruins covered under the sand
Only go there if you interested in archeological sites
Besides the very interesting history and architecture, the views of the Pacific are great.
Be ready for a long walk even if you choose to ride in a car for a part of it. It is an ancient place, cold wind at this time of the year.
Impressive Incas archeological site in a location called Pachacaman. just outside Lima South direction.
